Sub16: Estrecho v Jaen
Date: 19th January 2019
Ground: Instalaciones Deportivas Pueblo Nuevo Guadiaro
Conditions: Sunny/Windy (14)
Referee: Diego Ricciardi Canosa
This was always going to be an easy match for Estrecho Sub 16, however the key for this match was how the team kept their concentration for 70 minutes and brought what they had been practicing in training to the match.
The first 25 minutes from Estrecho was text book stuff, straight off the training ground, they played with skill, intensity, speed and scored 6 tries to nil. However, some ill discipline from the team and not listening to the referee resulted in Alex Peat-Diable going to the sin bin after he had scored a magnificent try from half way Estrecho then scored one more try before half time making the score 48-0
In the second half Estrecho played against the wind which made play a little more difficult and once again ill discipline from the Estrecho team resulted in them going down to 13 men as 2 play-ers were sent to the sin bin which slowed the try scoring down.
Estrecho added 6 more tries in the second half to win by 86 points to 0
Estrecho try scorers were: Ale Gonzalez (4), Ben Burgess (3), Felix Petersen (2), Alex Peat-Diable(2), Spike Parsons (2),, Billy Sullivan (1) & Dani Sotillo (1), plus 8 conversions by Ale Gonzalez
Estrecho are still unbeaten and move to second in the league behind Marianistas from Jerez whom they beat in December.
Final Score: Estrecho 86 Jaen 0
A great game of rugby played in good spirits by all the players, a joy to watch. Well done to all the players and thank you to the supporters.
Our Estrecho Sub 16 Player of the Week was Ben Burgess, who continues to impress week on week after his conversion from the round ball game. His hat trick of tries in the match round off a fine week for the Estrecho winger.
A special mention must go to the Estrecho Sub 16 sponsors, The Hairy Lemon in Sotogrande, La Finca Thai Fusion in Alcaidesa and The Resident Newspaper in Manilva.
Next Match: Sub 16 Estrecho v Sub 16 Marbella at Pueblo Nuevo 26th January at 13.30
Also their must be a special mention to the 5 players from Sub 16 who played for the Estrecho Sub 18’s on Sunday against CR Victoriano and contributed 30 points between them in a 43-5 victory,
Felix Petersen 2 tries, Dani Martynyuk 2 tries, Spike Parsons 1 try, Ben Burgess 1 try and Billy Sullivan 1 try disallowed, awe-some display, great attitude and commitment, you all stepped up.
